During my junior year of college, I took a class focused on the variability of movement in humans. The class consisted of mostly biomechanics and the study of human movements like gait, running, and balance. At the end of the class, I was tasked to perform a research study of a topic of my choosing. I decided to look at the variability in elbow angles during a football throwing motion. Specifically, I looked at the difference in elbow angles when someone is throwing different distances. Using video analysis, I was able to track the elbow angle through the 21 throws done for the experiment. The methods, results and discussion of the study are found in the presentation provided below.
